A Lonely Corner

A spider climbs high to a lonely corner of the room
while I watch as she begins to spin her web.

She weaves an intricate pattern
with the thickest strands she can produce.

Geometric shapes begin to develop
into a fortress of silken protection.

While she attempts to alter her unfinished structure,
she realizes she is unable to break the bonds she created.

Her web may never be complete and this disturbs her,
the traps will never function the way she planned.

The upset spider begins to spin and spin and spin and
when she finally stopped she had enclosed herself completely.

By the time I decided to break through her corner to help,
it was already too late.
