I Saw Light, I Saw You
By: Justin White

I floated there in your house
filled with water. I felt
no need to breathe
so I didn’t.

I tried to leave but found
the door locked. I attempted
to twist the dead bolt. My body
twisted instead.

I tried to float
through a window
but there were no
latches or handles.

I could clearly
see light. You could not
hear my yells. I saw you
choking on air.
